Who We Are
Based in the heart of Copenhagen, Ghost Ship Games is a passionate, close-knit studio of 50 gamers. Guided by our “Co-op First” philosophy, we proudly created Deep Rock Galactic, one of Steam’s top 100 games, and we are supported by one of the friendliest player communities.

Our Approach
At GSG, we embrace a unique approach to game creation, moving away from traditional pipelines. We prioritize speed, flexibility, and prototyping to enhance gameplay, believing that the best ideas emerge through rapid iteration. Collaboration lies at the heart of everything we do, both within our team and with our community.
What This Means for You
You’ll work in a pragmatic, fast-paced, and iterative environment that values collaboration across different teams and crafts. We’re not looking for perfection in our work; instead, we value experimentation, clear communication, openness to feedback, and a willingness to explore new ideas. You’ll have the freedom to shape the project’s UI while continuously refining your designs to achieve the best possible outcome.
Who You Are and What You Will Be Doing
You are a UI Artist with some years of experience in the games industry and a genuine interest in game development. You enjoy collaborating with others, exploring ideas together, and staying flexible.
You understand the role of UI within the game, are curious about how it’s implemented, and enjoy exploring the overall structure and flow of the project. You can take an idea for the UI, share your thoughts on how it could be realized, discuss it with the team, and iterate to make it the best it can be.
You understand what makes UI work, can ask thoughtful questions, and offer ideas when something could be improved. You see how the UI interacts with the game and contributes to creating an experience that feels intuitive, engaging, and polished.
We are looking for someone who
- Genuinely enjoys UI and can take responsibility for their work.
- Actively participates in shaping not just the UI, but the game project as a whole.
- Takes full ownership of their work and can manage their own workflow. We won’t provide a detailed task list — it’s up to you to shape your work, while we provide the overall direction.
Additionally, you
- Preferably have experience working on first-person shooters or enjoy playing them.
- Have an eye for concept art and design — illustration experience is a plus. Some experience as a concept artist is welcome, and there might be occasional tasks, though you won’t be doing concept art often.
- You have an interest in game design and enjoy being part of creating games.
Skills & Software
- Good understanding of design principles, user psychology, wireframing/prototyping, interaction design, and inclusive design.
- Experience creating high-quality layouts and UI assets, including guidelines for visual style, asset sizes, colors, and fonts, to ensure consistency with the game's art direction.
- Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe XD or similar software.
- Experience with Unreal UI implementation is a plus, but not required.
- Experience creating interactions, transitions, and effects in systems is a plus, but not required.
Your Day-to-Day Tasks Will Include
- Designing visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces, including menus, HUD elements, and icons, ensuring the UI aligns with the game’s style while enhancing usability and the player experience.
- Guiding user experience design by anticipating potential issues, supporting player-focused decisions, and helping shape the development processes.
- Creating mockups for UI screens and elements to serve as the first point of discussion for the team and as a common reference during implementation.
